Chapter eight

1Then God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God caused a wind to pass over the land, and the waters subsided. 2And the springs of the deep and the windows of the heavens were stopped, and the rain declined from heaven. 3And the waters returned from the land again and again. And after one hundred and fifty days the waters subsided, 4and the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. 5And the waters continued to decrease until the tenth month. On the tenth, the first of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.
6And it came to pass after forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made, 7and sent forth a raven, and it went out hesitating until the waters were dried up The earth. 8Then he sent out a dove from him to see if the waters had diminished from the face of the earth. 9But the dove could not find a place to rest its foot, so it returned to him For there were waters on the face of the whole earth. So he stretched out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him. 10So he stayed another seven days and returned and sent the dove out of the ark. 11And the dove came to him at evening, and behold, there was a green olive leaf in the sky Maha. So Noah knew that the waters had diminished from the land. 12So he stayed another seven days and sent out the dove, but it did not return to him again.
13And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from off the land. So Noah removed the cover from the ark and looked, and behold, the face of the earth was dried. 14And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the land dried up.
15And God spoke to Noah, saying, 16“Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17And all the living creatures of all flesh that are with you, both birds and livestock and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, bring out with you. And let it multiply in the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18And Noah went out, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him. 19And every living thing, every creeping thing, every bird, every living thing that creeps on the earth, according to its kind, came out of the ark.
20And Noah built an altar to the Lord. And he took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar, 21 and the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma. And the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Nor will I again kill every living thing as I have done. 22All the days of the earth: seed and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will continue.”
