Introduction
A man buys an old wooden framed glass for twelve dollars from a street market that opens every Friday. The seller tells him to be careful because this glass shows your truth. He laughs and puts it in front of his dresser and forgets about it. That was two weeks ago and since then he has not slept more than two hours straight.
Chapter One
The first night passes normal with no strange events. On the second night while walking past it to wash his face he sees his own image stop for one full second and look back at the bedroom door while he keeps walking forward. His heart drops but he turns off the light and goes to bed telling himself he is being paranoid and needs sleep.
Chapter Two
By day three the situation becomes frightening. He starts testing it like a child. He walks past it quickly and turns his body suddenly to catch it off guard. His image stays frozen half a second longer before moving with him like it is thinking before copying. He starts avoiding looking at it for too long. Every time he enters the room he feels eyes watching him from inside the frame. The area around the glass becomes the coldest spot in the room even during a heatwave and he hears faint wind sounds coming from inside it like there is an open window behind the surface.
Chapter Three
He decides to record it on his phone to prove he is not losing his mind. He sets the camera on a tripod walks past the glass and leaves the room closing the door behind him. When he returns and plays the video he freezes and cannot swallow. In real life he crossed in front of it in two seconds and disappeared from the room. On the video his image stands still for seven full seconds after he is gone from the room then it slowly lifts its head looks directly at the camera and smiles a wide crooked smile. He was not smiling in real life. He deletes the video immediately but that image is burned into his memory.
Chapter Four
On day ten he covers the glass with a heavy blanket and ties it tight from behind. He tells himself that is it the way is closed now. The next morning he wakes up and finds the blanket on the floor crumpled like someone yanked it off with hands during the night. Every night at exactly three seventeen in the morning he hears faint cracking sounds like the surface is contracting from cold. Every morning the surface is clean and polished like someone wiped it with a cloth. Dust collects around the frame but the surface itself has no single speck of dust. He starts noticing something stranger each day. The area behind his image is not his room at all. The walls are darker the window is in a different place and there is an old wooden entry with a brass handle on the wall that does not exist in his apartment. Each day the entry becomes clearer and more detailed like someone is cleaning it from the other side.
Chapter Five
Now it is day fourteen at three sixteen in the morning and he is writing this with his back pressed against the farthest wall from the glass. From across the room he can see his image standing completely still not moving with him at all. The wooden entry behind it gets clearer every day and he hears the sound of a handle turning slowly on the other side like someone is testing it. His image still has its hand raised against the surface pushing from the inside. The surface is starting to bend inward slightly like something is pressing hard against it from the other side. If you find this note on the floor it means he did not escape in time. Never buy old wooden framed glass from a street market no matter how cheap it is or how normal the seller swears it is. And if you have one in your room right now do not look into it after three seventeen in the morning no matter what happens. Because it does not show you. It shows who is waiting on the other side. And it just figured out how to open the entry and you are next.
