In The Dark
In the Dark
There was an old, abandoned house on the edge of a small village, and terrifying stories were told about it. It was believed to be haunted by spirits of the past, and whispers would echo from inside whenever the wind blew. Despite the warnings, there were always those who sought to defy fear.
One stormy night, two friends, Ahmed and Mariam, decided to explore this house. The sky was overcast, and lightning would light up the sky from time to time. After some chatting and mutual assurances, they gathered some basic tools such as flashlights and batteries, and headed towards the house.
Upon arrival, the large wooden door was slightly open, as if the house was inviting them to enter. Ahmed took a deep breath and pushed the door open to enter first, followed by Mariam, who was feeling a mixture of curiosity and fear. As soon as they entered, the door closed behind them with a terrifying creaking sound. The place was dark, as if the light had fled away.
Ahmed used his flashlight, and the beam of light it emitted danced on the rusty and dusty walls. The space around them shuddered, and the sounds of bats filled the place. “It seems like no one is here,” Ahmed said in a trembling voice. But Mariam felt something uneasy.
With every step, the whispers got louder. “Ahmed, do you hear that?” Mariam asked anxiously. But he was busy exploring the rooms. In the living room, they found an old, dusty mirror. While Ahmed was looking in the mirror, Mariam felt something strange behind him.
She slowly backed away, and when she looked, there was no one there. But she felt something heavy weighing on her heart, as if she was not alone. At that moment, the flashlight suddenly went out, and darkness filled the place again. Ahmed shouted, while Mariam felt her way out.
In the midst of the chaos, whispers began to echo in her ears. “Don’t leave us…” They were vague words, but she felt something like terror seeping into her depths. Mariam started heading towards the door, but the darkness was thick, as if something was trying to prevent her from leaving.
She felt something grab her shoulder, and she screamed at the top of her lungs. But when she turned around, there was no one. The house was empty, but the whispers were getting closer. She used all her strength to push the door open, and she was finally able to get out into the fresh air.
When she came out, the rain was falling heavily, and Ahmed was not behind her. She turned in panic, and screamed his name, but the echo was the only answer. She felt a chill run through her bones, and when she looked in the large mirror in the entrance, she saw her reflection. But it was no ordinary reflection.
She saw herself, but she looked different. Her eyes were dark, and a ghostly smile adorned her face. It was as if something had taken her place, as if she was trapped between two worlds. Maryam knew at that moment that the darkness was not just the absence of light, but something deeper.
She realized that the house still held its secrets, and that some places were unforgettable. At that moment, the darkness became a living being, watching and controlling, capturing souls and keeping them forever. Mary decided that she would never return to that place, but the ghost in the mirror was smiling, as if promising her another meeting in another darkness.
