*The Cursed Mansion of Ravenswood*

The small town of Ravenswood was mysterious and ominous. It was a town that the sun disappeared into the horizon and painted the sky reddish and ashy. The towns people whispered about the old mansion on the hill, the stone monument of secrecy and silence that appeared to protect the town like an angry ghost.

The mansion remained vacant for decades, its beauty and majesty slowly consumed by time. The immaculately manicured lawns were now unruly, crickets chirping and rustling leaves the only signs of life. It was, however, whispered that on certain nights, when the moon hung full and the wind whistled through the trees, the mansion rang with sounds.

Whispers went around like wildfire of strange occurrences and unexplainable things. People claimed to have spotted creatures of darkness in the windows, and heard voices at midnight. Some even stated that there was a haunted family, the Ravenswoods, who occupied the mansion and had cursed themselves.

On a stormy night, a gang of friends had decided to go and see the mansion, determined to explore the mansion and debunk the myths. They walked towards the mansion, their flashlights gleaming about them, casting cold shadows on the walls. As they entered, they sensed a shiver run down their spines. The air inside was thick with the odour of rot and putrefaction.

The group began to explore further into the house, the creak of their steps echoing in the empty halls. They discovered rooms of old antiques, cobweb-covered paintings, and a great staircase that seemed to stretch up to the heavens. Yet deeper, they began to feel a threatening presence, as if they were being watched.

One of her companions, a shy and timid girl named Sarah, began to feel an intense feeling of fear. She stepped away from the others towards a door slightly open. Stepping outside, she was confronted with a vision that would forever change her life.

Inside the room, she found a set of pictures, every one of them depicting a member of the Ravenswood family. But the final picture was what caught her attention. It was that of a little girl, the color of her eyes black as coal, and a smile which was found to be twisted into a grotesque grin. Sarah felt a shiver cross over her, and she knew that she was not alone.

As she was about to leave, she overheard a soft whisper in her ear. "Welcome home, Sarah." The tone was soft and raspy, and it sent shivers down her spine. She ran back to the group, her heart pounding.

But in trying to flee, they were trapped. The doors and windows were closed, and the storm raging outside seemed to be growing more violent. The group huddled together, waiting for the dawn to break, but as the night passed, they began disappearing one by one.

The sole survivor was Sarah. She was stuck in a room filled with old family trinkets that were covered in dust, the artwork hanging on the walls seeming to glare at her through cold dead eyes. She could hear the whisper again, "You should have never come here." And then she was consumed by darkness.

The next day, police found Sarah's car parked in front of the mansion, the engine still running. But Sarah herself was never seen again. The mansion remained standing, a reminder of the horror within its walls. And the townspeople would tell tales of the cursed Ravenswoods, and the mansion that seemed to suck in the soul of anyone who entered.

Years went by, but the legend of the haunted house remained. Some vowed to see the ghostly figure of Sarah strolling the halls, her eyes as dark as coal, and her grin twisted into a wicked grimace. And on still nights, when the moon was full and the wind howled down through the trees, the house seemed to come alive, its secrets and terrors waiting to be unleashed once more.
