Tommy Triceratops was running late for school again! His three horns kept getting tangled in his backpack straps, and his mom had to help him untangle them twice before breakfast.

"Hurry up, Tommy!" called his best friend Sally Stegosaurus from outside. Her colorful back plates sparkled in the morning sun like a rainbow. "We don't want to miss show-and-tell!"

Tommy grabbed his lunch box (extra big to fit his enormous sandwich) and thundered out the door. His heavy footsteps made the whole neighborhood shake, causing Mr. Brontosaurus next door to spill his morning coffee all over his newspaper.

"Sorry, Mr. B!" Tommy called over his shoulder as he and Sally raced toward Prehistoric Elementary School.

When they arrived at their classroom, their teacher Mrs. Pteranodon was already perched at the front, her giant wings folded neatly behind her. "Good morning, little paleontologists!" she squawked cheerfully. "Who's ready for an exciting day of learning?"

The classroom was buzzing with excitement because today was special – it was Fossil Friday! Each student had brought something amazing for show-and-tell.

Rex Tyrannosaurus went first. Despite his tiny arms, he managed to hold up a shiny rock. "This is my great-great-great-grandfather's tooth!" he announced proudly. "It's going to be a fossil someday!" All the other dinosaurs oohed and ahhed.

Next came Penny Parasaurolophus, who played a beautiful song through her curved head crest. The melody echoed through the classroom like a prehistoric flute, making everyone sway and dance.

But the biggest surprise came when Dippy Diplodocus stood up. Being the tallest dinosaur in class, his head nearly touched the ceiling! "I brought something very special," he said, his long neck swaying as he spoke. From behind his desk, he carefully lifted a perfect dinosaur egg.

"Is that...?" gasped Mrs. Pteranodon.

"My baby brother!" Dippy announced with a huge grin. Right on cue, the egg began to crack. Tiny chirping sounds came from inside, and suddenly a little head popped out!

"PEEP! PEEP! PEEP!"

The whole class erupted in cheers and applause. Even grumpy Anky Ankylosaurus, whose club tail usually knocked over chairs, was so excited that he forgot to be careful and accidentally launched his desk into the air with his tail!

Mrs. Pteranodon flapped her wings with joy. "Class, we're witnessing something truly magical – the miracle of hatching!"

Little Dippy Jr. looked around at all the smiling faces and let out the tiniest roar anyone had ever heard. It sounded more like a squeak, which made everyone giggle.

"Welcome to our class, little one!" said Tommy, gently patting the baby dinosaur with his horn.

As the school day ended and the dinosaurs headed home, Tommy realized that some days at school were better than others. But days like today – full of friends, surprises, and baby dinosaurs – were absolutely dino-mite!
