The Lazy Bird

In a big forest full of green trees and colorful flowers , many birds lived happily they flew in the sky , searched for food and sang sweet songs every morning . Each bird had a nest and each bird worked hard every day .

But one little bird was different  , this bird liked to sleep late she did not fly far to find food , she did not clean her nest or fix the broken branches and she stayed in her nest and watched the clouds move slowly in the sky when the other birds returned with food and stories , she just listened and closed her eyes again .

The other birds grew stronger and they learned how to fly high and fast and also they knew where to find the best berries and the cleanest water but the lazy bird did not learn anything new she became weak and slow . 

Seasons changed the days became shorter and the air became colder and also the leaves on the trees turned yellow and fell to the ground . The birds knew that winter was coming , it was time to fly south to a  warm place with food and sunshine .

All the birds prepared for the long trip and they fixed their nests and packed food and also stretched their wings , they helped each other and planned the journey together .

The lazy bird did nothing , she looked at the sky and said it is not cold yet , I will fly later . She stayed in her nest , warm under her feathers while the others got ready . Then one cold morning the forest became silent , the sky was grey and the wind was strong . The birds had left and the lazy bird woke up alone and her nest was cold , her stomach was empty and she tried to fly but her wings were weak and she did not know the way , she had never paid attention , she had never practiced .

She hopped from one tree to another but the wind pushed her down . she tried to find food but the berries were gone and the rivers were frozen , the forest was empty and quiet .She felt scared and she felt cold and regret .

The lazy bird sat in her broken nest and thought about all the days she wasted , she thought about the mornings she slept through and the lessons she ignored . Now , she was alone , hungry and too weak to fly .

At the end , she promised herself that if she had another chance she would never be lazy again , but sometimes chances do not come twice 

 

Moral of the story

If you do not work today , you may suffer tomorrow . Time will not wait for those who are not ready
